March Favourites 2014

Hey Peeps,

As March is nearly over I thought it was about time that I did my monthly favourites for this month. This month i have fallen back in love with some old favourites that may have already appeared on my blog and also some new discoveries that I have loved.

First I will start with the products I have fallen back in love with: The Jemma Kidd Brown Eye shadow Quartet. Back when I first started my blog this was my absolute favourite shadowed palette, I used it nearly every day and have nearly hit pan on two of my shadows. It is the perfect nude palette for me as I can create a simple look, a smoky look and I used to bring this with me away all the time because I could use it to create a day look and a night look. Anyway I forgot about this because I bought the MUA Heaven and Earth palette and was using that for a couple of months. Then for Christmas I received the Urban Decay Basics and have been using that everyday and I sadly forgot about my Jemma Kidd Quartet. But whilst sorting through my stuff I found it and have started using it again this month and I remembered why I loved it so much. The pigmentation of these shades are beautiful, they last all day and I don't have to worry about them wiping off throughout the day. The best part is these shades all work well together and compliment each other, so in the morning when I am rushing to get ready because I over slept, I don't have to decide what eye-shadows to wear because they are already decided for me!

Next is another product I have had for awhile but just simply forgot about. It is the Laura Geller Spackle Under Make-up Primer. I don't use a primer everyday but I find when I do I can see a noticeable difference in how long my make-up lasts. I tend to mix this primer in with my moisturiser and then blend it in in circular motions using my fingers. This primer has a silicone based formal and I really like that because it feels refreshing on my face and I find it soaks really well into my skin because sometimes my skin can get a little dry in the morning.

Recently I have been loving the Real Techniques brushes and I bought the Real Techniques Shading brush. The bristles are quite short, but the brush is wide and very dense. It works best for blending eye-shadow in the crease but if you could only take one brush away with you then this would be good as I think it is quite a multi purpose brush. I love all the packaging of the RT brushes anyway, but I think this purple colour is really cute.

Finally my monthly favourites wouldn't be complete without a nail polish. This month I have been loving the Nails Inc. Sheraton Street, in the bottle it looks like a pale blue but on the nails it is a gorgeous pastel blue that has a hint of grey in it. It is not a really young childish blue, but more of a sophisticated blue and I think anyone of any age can wear this colour. Personally I can see myself wearing this nail polish a lot over the next few month!

My Nerdy Me!

Hey Peeps,

So in case you haven't guessed already I can be a pretty big nerd at times and sometimes I hide this, but today I feel like embracing my inner nerd. I though I would try something new and create my own tag. If you have read my blog for a long time you will know I love tags as they are a great way to interact with new people and they can give you something new and different to talk about. I hope you enjoy this tag and I would love to hear your feedback. If you want to take part in this please make sure you answer all the questions, link back to my blog (its only fair guys!!) and have fun while discovering your inner nerd! I don't mind if you want to use the image above if you are going to do this tag. Now onto the questions...

1. If your house was burning down and you could only grab one book, which book would it be and why?
Mmmhhh, this may sound like a strange choice but when I was younger I was given the Far Away Tree to help me have sweeter dreams at night instead of nightmares. The characters made me really happy as a child and it took me to a magical world that I loved.

2. When you get stuck into a really good book how long will it take you to read it?
I have been know to read a book in a day if it totally engrosses me. In a day I managed to read The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Ham and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

3, Have you ever become totally obsessed with a book or a series of books before?
This may seem like a bit of an obvious choice but for me it would have to be Harry Potter, I am still madly obsessed with this story and often daydream about being apart of the books. When I was 9 or 10 I read a series of books called Summer Camp Secrets, they are about American girls going to a summer camp in their teenage years and I think there are about 20 books.
4. On average how many hours a week do you send on the computer?

5. It is Saturday night and all your friends are going out to a party but on Monday morning you have a really important maths exam that you know you need to study for even though you will probably pass. Do you a) not study, go to the party and hope that you pass, b) study for an hour or so and meet your friends a bit later on or do you c) not go out and study hard so you are fully prepared for Monday mornings exam?
I would choose c) because I would totally freak out if I didn't revise because I like to be fully prepared for every exam and I think an exam is more important than going out.

6. Do you sometimes come across as anti-social in some situations? If so when?
Sometimes I feel very socially awkward around the popular kids in my school. I never know what to say, how to act, if I should sit, stand, smile or look blank. Popular kids really confuse me...

7. What music do you love listening to that others would see as weird or totally un cool but you love anyway?
I have many geeky music loves but in no particular order I love musicals, glee and orchestral music. I play in lots of orchestras and the music we play is so intricate and tells a story in a way I have never heard before in music. Some of my favourites are Walton, Bach and  Tchaikovsky.

8. Have you ever sat there and completely planned out your whole entire life?
Yep I do it all the time, I love imagining how my life will be and it is reassuring to have a plan for the future.

9. What TV shows are you obsessed with that other people think are so nerdy?
I love Doctor Who and Sherlock so much. I only really got into Doctor Who last year but trust me guys it is so good. Now I want a best friend like the Doctor. Don't even get me started on Sherlock, it is like one of the things ever created by the BBC. Sherlock is a genius man who can solve impossible crimes and he always has wonderful and wacky explanations for everything. I swear down his mind is like a super computer.

10. Now say three other nerdy facts about you.
Learning new tings excite me and I love the feeling I get when I understand something new. I have an obsession with pens, pencils, notepads, to be honest anything stationary. Finally I love it when things are colour coordinated. My school planner is like a dream to me because I have colour coded all my subjects and when I look at it now I think it is really satisfying. I know that may seem a bit wired but hay ho this is a nerdy tag!

Tara from Perfectly Imperfectly Beauty
Becca from Beccas Fashion and Life
Lucy from Loves of Lucy

So...? Dry Shampoo Wars

Hey Peeps,

I seem to be on a roll here with the beauty review posts at the moment. Today I have some hair care products. I was sent some So...? products to try out and the dry shampoos caught my attention. I haven't tried any of the batiste dry shampoos before so didn't really know what to expect, but to me the idea of a dry shampoo is an absolute life saver because I have very thick hair which takes ages to wash, dry and style. Both of these dry shampoos are from So...? and I thought I would do something a bit different, I have never done a comparison post before so lets see how it goes.

First of all I think the packaging on both of these are really cool but I prefer the black design and think it looks great on display on you dressing table or shelf.  Non of these leave any horrible white dust in my hair which is great because how embarrassing would it be to walk around with white bits in your hair all day!

I think the So...? Lovely dry shampoo is just you standard dry shampoo. I think it smells of apple, violet and sandalwood and I'd say it's more fruity than floral. The packaging is bright and eye-catching and really girly as all the So...? products are. It did everything I wanted it to do: made my hair look less limp and meant I was able to go another day without washing it. I do prefer the So...? Va Va Volume as for me it is more suited to the way I like to wear my hair. I love wearing my hair quite big with a lot of volume. I find it really boost my hair and I would probably even use this as a volumising spray when my hair didn't need dry shampoo because I really love the body it adds to my hair. I am not mad on the smell, it is too strong for me but other than that I think I prefer this over the So...? Lovely.

Overall I really like these dry shampoos and I would like to repurchase a smaller size so I can carry it around in my handbag or school bag. Because even though it is not heavy, it would be quite bulky and heavy to carry around with you in you bag.

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold | Review

Hey Peeps,

All year round I wear blusher as I find it makes me look more awake, healthier and my face looks more radiant. I wear blusher on a regular basis and I always feel very naked without it. Sleek blushers are highly recommended for a really good drugstore blush and I wanted to try this one as it has had a lot of hype on the blogsphere.

The packaging is very practical with a big mirror inside and 'sleek' however because it is black does pick up contents of my makeup bag which is a little annoying. I do think the packaging is very similar to the NARS products and actually this blush is known as a dupe for NARS Orgasm. The colour is very pretty and what is great is you can apply a little bit for a subtle look or you can build up the pigmentation for a stronger cheek. At first I was a little bit put off my the shimmer, but if you have simple eyes and lips it works really well. I would describe this shade as a warm peachy pink shade with a fine golden shimmer running through. In the summer I think this shade gives you a sun kissed glow if you wear it with a warm bronzer. This winter I have been wearing this with really simple fresh eye makeup and a nude lipstick/ lip balm to create a really fresh, healthy, "oh I have just been playing outside in the cold and now I am sat in front of the fire" kind of look! Sometimes when I catch my reflection in a mirror I can really see the shimmer, so if you don't feel comfortable wearing shimmer then maybe this isn't for you, or if you really like the shade try just applying a really really light amount.

I think the quality of these blushers are amazing, especially for only £4.49, and I can definitely see myself buying more. I really want to try the trios because you get 2 powder blushers and a cream blush for about £10 which is essentially buy 2 get 1 free. This blush is an absolute gem and if you haven't already, you need to try a Sleek Blush.

L'Oreal Perle De Jade | WOMN #1

Hey Peeps,

I would just like to say that yesterday I hit 200 followers and that is absolutely amazing! I just want to thank every single person that has followed my blog, it is so rewarding to know that people enjoy my blog enough to want to follow.
This week I decided to paint my nails in one of my favourite pastel shades as it is Spring. The brush is really flat and wide which I really like because it means I can paint my other hand more easily if the brush is wider. You do definitely need to do 2 coats of this colour as the first coat is very sheet, bit when you apply a second coat the colour is absolutely gorgeous. The bottle is really small compared to most of my other nail polish bottles, but I love the formula and colour. This is the only L'Oreal polish I own but I would like to try more in the future, I have seen some really interesting shades! I am on my third day now of wearing this polish and looking at my nails I have to say I don't have any chips which is really pleasing.

Red Dress in Spring

Hey Peeps,

So this past week has got me really excited because it is now really sunny and bright outside. Don't you find that when the sunshine is out that you are in a brighter and happier mood that day, I know I am. All this great weather has got me wishing that summer would hurry up and come because I can't wait to wear summer dresses, eat ice-lollies after school and spend the evenings outside. It has also inspired me to start thinking up some spring/summer outfits, so that is what I have got for you today.

In summer I love wearing denim jackets with dresses as it makes them more casual and appropriate for every day wear, but I also love wearing sunglasses. These ones are very simple but the tint of colour is very subtle and I like that. In spring and summer you can guarantee that a pair of sunglasses will permanently live on my head! I can't live without them. This year I want to wear more dresses, and on a weekend only really wear dresses. Swing dresses and smock dresses have caught my eye this year. They look really comfortable and pretty, also they wont be too tight or revealing to wear everyday. Let me know what you think of this outfit and which items are your favourite:

Denim Jacket £60 from ZALANDO.CO.UK
Floral Red Smock Dress £25 from FASHIONUNION.COM
Sunglasses from £13 ZALANDO.CO.UK
Kensington Markedness Booties £45 from MODCLOTH.COM
Mini Mint Bowler Bag £17 from DOROTHYPERKINS.COM
Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish in Kensington Passage £14 from JOHNLEWIS.COM
Topshop Nail Polish in Disclosed from TOPSHOP.COM

Becca's Blogger of the Month : Lucy Marie

 Hey Peeps,

For March's blogger of the month I have Lucy Marie, a British blogger who loves fashion, Disney and photography. I have been reading Lucy's blog pretty much since she started out and I also discovered she has a YouTube channel. Her videos are always really down to earth, well put together and her video quality and editing are so cool. Lucy and I have talked a bit on twitter and she is honestly such a lovely genuine person. Her blog is very girly but also really cool; I love her monthly wish lists and one of her recent posts on Vanessa Hudgens style. Here is the interview I did with Lucy, I hope you enjoy!

What inspired you to start blogging?
I read one or two blogs for a few months before and felt like it would be something really productive to do in my free time. It wasn’t until I actually started writing my own that I discovered the entire ‘Blogger Community’. In general it was due to my love for fashion and the inspiration just grew from there.

How much has your blog changed and developed since you first started blogging?
My first ever Blog was called Pretty Paper Dolly. I made it anonymously because I was to scared to write as myself. I then moved onto Loves of Lucy half a year later with a brand new URL, audience, content and design. I feel like I have gained some experience throughout HTML and Blog design since starting and little changes have been made here and there. I definitely think that my fashion style has changed since I began too, so my Blog has kind of adapted to that. My writing style has definitely got a little more personal - it’s great because it’s like having an online diary that anyone can see.. scary actually, haha.

What is your all time favourite post you have written?
A few months back I posted a hair tutorial on how to master the fishtail-braid. I had fun with the editing and thoroughly enjoyed writing it. I also love wish list posts - what can I say? I’m a shopaholic!

Where would you like to see you and your blog in 5 years time?
Ooh, it’s so hard to predict, I’d be almost 22 by then! I write my Blog only as a hobby in my free time and couldn’t see myself Blogging as a career so I hope it is somewhere for me to head to after Uni or work. I do hope me and my Blog are still hand in hand (or finger on keyboard per-say) because it is somewhere for me to share everything I love with people with the same interests as me.

What is your number one top tip for blogging, for any bloggers seeking advise or for those bloggers starting out?
I definitely recommend just having fun with it! Write about anything you like and don’t just stick to one theme -  what’s great about Blogs is that there are no limits (in reason) so use that to your advantage and write about anything you are interested in. I also think you shouldn’t focus on numbers and stats because an audience will come in time.
Fab questions Becca!

Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow Palette | Review

Hey Peeps,

This product is very strange as there is no product name on the packaging. I spent ages trying to find the name of this product, researching for hours and hours but I really struggled. Eventually I found someone selling it on eBay and so worked out the name of it. But I was really frustrated by this and Clinique if you are reading this, I love your products but please clearly name each product on the packaging! I would have reviewed this sooner but with no product name it was impossible to do so. Anyway rant over, I do really like this product and so want to do a review for you.

First off I would like to say that I love the silver corrugated mirror effect of the outside of the packaging, I think it looks really classy and I love carry this around with me and getting it out around people! These colours are great. I have an uncountable amount of neutral eye shadows, and classic eyeshadow palette with lots of browns blacks and nudes. But after a while I get fed up using the same kind of eye shadows every morning. So this is the palette I go to when I want to shake it up a bit and try something new. Even though the shades are shimmery, they all work well together and I can wear them in the day or apply a darker shadow from the range to wear in an evening or if I am going out. I normally take this palette with me when I go away and know I need day and night makeup looks as this palette offers me that variety.

On an everyday basis I really like wearing strawberry fudge all the way across my lid, with either teenage pink of lucky penny running through my crease. I think these shades really complement my eyes. When I first started out wearing makeup I would never ever dream of wearing colour on my eyes other than neutral browns, the most adventurous I got was wearing a sheer khaki green through my crease. But now I am a bit more adventurous and have tried experimenting more. It was actually one of Tanya Burr's videos that inspired me to start wearing pale pink/champagne on my eyes. I really like it now and think it's great for spring. In the evenings I have tried wearing Bordeaux and Chambord, these are very dark and deep toned shades but if you apply lightly and build up the colour gradually I think it works well.

Spring Wishlist 2014

 Hey Peeps,

It SPRING!! YAY!! Here is a little collection of all the things on my wishlist for Spring. Spring is a time for really girly pastel colours and a great opportunity to get some colour back into our wardrobes.

Mini Textured Skater-Dress : I think this is perfect for Spring as the colour is fresh and playful. I like how I could wear this dress casually with a denim jacket and boots or dresses up with some really girly accessories. Nude Frill Cami Top : Again this is a great Spring essential as I can pair it with light wash jeans during the day and then thrown on a leather jacket and high heels in the evening. Love Floral Print Top: I just really liked this top, it girly and fun. I would probably wear this with shorts or my jeans. Now onto nails, I have had my eye on 2 nail polish in particular for Spring: TopShop Nail Polishes in Rendevous and Disclosed. They are both really wearable shades and ideal to complete your spring outfit. I have recently started to love wearing bows, I found this one from Forever 21 and i would love to try and style something like this in Spring. And finally i have one last item on my wishlist this spring, I only own a few things from Top Shop's makeup range but i really want to try the powder blush in Good Girl. I have heard great things about the TopShop blushes and really want to give them a go.

T&B Talks | Size Is Just A Number

Hey Peeps,

The ever so lovely Tara and I are starting our own little project called T&B Talk, where we talk together on our blogs about anything that inspires us, issues in the world, things we want to raise awareness of and general chitchat about being a teenager and life. We are so excited to start this and hopefully you will like these posts we are going to do and we would really appreciate any feedback or advise you have for us. This topic is a very sensitive topic and we don't wish to offend or hurt anyone's feelings; but people’s size and weight is not something that is talked about much but I know certainly for me it has an impact on my life.
Yes, that’s right size is just a number. I know I know, that’s not what society or the beauty industry tells us but guess what it is true. I know from experience that trying on a pair of jeans can be such a terrifying task even though it should be something that’s simple. About 2 years ago, I was a big size and I had no confidence. It’s only now that I’m starting to get some confidence and realise that I don't need to be a size 4 because as I have only just started to figure out the size of your jeans are measurements that have been made by each company this changes to each shop you walk into. Each shop has their own 'fit' model with different sizes based on their fashion fantasy land of who they want to buy their products. I still think I could lose weight because my thighs are a bit too big & my tummy could be a bit skinnier but I only want that to happen so that I CAN BE HAPPY. We are constantly told by society that to key to happiness is the right size but who decides what the right size is? We should be telling people to love their bodies no matter what size. Imagine what would happen if everyone loved themselves the way they are and didn't care what others thought? - Tara

I remember a few years ago when I hit puberty I put on a lot of weight and looking back on old photos I barely recognise myself. I always wore jeans and jumpers and you would never catch me wearing a skirt or a summer dress to school. As most of you have probably guessed by now I like to shop (hence one of the reasons why I am a blogger) but around that time I hated clothes shopping; in particular for jeans. I always felt they made my bum look big, I couldn't get them over my legs and sometimes there wouldn't be a size big enough. I remember coming home and crying because I thought I was fat and the one thing my mum used to say to me was 'size is just a number'. Even now I still hate shopping for jeans because sometimes the size I am wearing scares me. – Becca

You can be whatever size you want and still be happy because guess what IT IS A NUMBER. Do you want to be healthy? You can be healthy I say GO YOU. But don't turn to diets just because society said “Swimsuit season is coming up time to shred the pounds” because remember they are a multimillion dollar diet industry that is dying to hear you say “I’m too fat, I need to lose weight”. They sell you a dream of having an impossible body so they can sell you some magical potion that will turn you into some skinny, tall, white straight-teeth “perfect” woman. NO .If you are happy strut your stuff where ever you go in whatever clothes you want! Society needs to teach people not just love your body if your society standard of 'skinny' but to love yourself not matter what size you are...Because as I said Size Is Just A Number and life is much more beautiful and complex than a number on a scale. - Tara

But what I have learnt is that the number on the label means nothing. Usually in most shops anyway they make the clothes a really small size 10 so really you have to wear a 12. This is done by shops so they can save money, but I don't agree with this because it can be so disheartening to people when they have to wear clothes a size bigger because the company is scrounging to save money. Clothes should be empowering and should give you confidence; not tear you down. At the end of the day all it is, is a number on a label and I would much rather wear a pair of jeans in a larger size than wear them in a smaller one and be uncomfortable and for them to look way to small of you. –Becca

Size is just a number... don't let the number on the label define who you think you are or define what you think of yourself.

February Favourites 2014

 Hey Peeps,

February was very busy for me and i didn't really try out any new products, but there were a few that stood out. I discovered a few new favourites and re-discovered some old.

First of all I found the Laura Geller Balance and Bronze in the back of my makeup collection. I was always a little bit frightened of this product as I am quite pale and was worried that wearing a bronzer would look really muddy and horrible. But i am actually really surprised as to how much I like wearing this. It doesn't look muddy, I think it adds warmth and definition. I don't really use the highlighter as a highlighter but mix the two so I get the perfect colour. I also found another little gem I had totally forgot about and that is my MAC pencil in coffee. I love wearing black eyeliner as it really defines my (quite small) eyes but someday i want to wear something a bit more natural, so when I do I reach for this eyeliner. I think it complements my hazel eyes as well. I wear this along my lash line but just in the outer corners stopping halfway across my eyes.

One of my new discoveries was a nail polish (surprise surprise, it is the Nails Inc. Sloane Street and is this super pretty pink shade that is perfect for Spring. As you probably know Nails.Inc are my favourite polishes, the shade range is amazing and the formulas by far the best. This polish is no exception and I can see myself wearing this a lot this spring and summer. Finally this month I have a new skincare favourite. For Christmas, in one of my Soap and Glory sets, I was given the Peaches and Clean face wash. It smells so delicious, just like peaches and cream. The consistency has a silicone base which is something I haven't used before as I am quite used to creamy face products. I use this in the morning and find it really refreshing on my face, its very gentle and doesn't feel harsh or 'too much' on my face.

So there we have it, all the products I loved using in February.I would love it if you would comment down below telling me what products you have loved using this month

Hello March 2013

Hey Peeps,

February was a pretty cool month for me: I got to spend time with great friends, go to France and Harry Potter World and my dad took the whole half term week off so it was great to spend the whole week together as a family. March is another busy month for me. Next Thursday my school is having a World Book Day celebration where we have to come to school dressed as a book character and then next Friday we are having a cinema trip as the whole school. In 2 weeks i am going to a horn group called Opera North and i am looking forward to playing music for the day. I also have a Christening in London which I am really looking forward to. At the end of the month I am taking part in my first ever music competition called Music For Youth. I have never taken part in a music competition before and I am really nervous. I am playing in a group with 4 other Horn players and one boys actually composed this piece for us to play. There are quite a few elimination rounds but I am not really too sure how the whole process works.

About 2 weeks ago one of blogging friends Tara, from Perfectly Imperfect Beauty, approached me about a new idea she had to start a feature on each of our blogs where we talk about issues, topics, quotes and anything that inspires us to share it with you. Tara and I have talked in the past and shared advise on lifestyle inspiration posts, so I thought it was a great idea and since i stopped Wednesday Word just before Christmas, this seemed like the perfect time to start something new. It is going to be called T&B Talks and we will post on the first Wednesday of every month; starting on Monday 3rd March.

When March come knocking at our doors I think it is officially Spring, winter is gone and so are the dark nights, movies in front of the fire and hot chocolate before bed. But I am okay with that because Spring means pretty flowers, brighter days and wearing cute pastels. What do you love most about Spring?
