April Favourites 2014

Hey Peeps,

April is nearly over and I wanted to do my favourites for this month. I have to say I love doing these posts now and I find them to be a really enjoyable way to show you what I have been loving recently. I have been ill for most of April and haven't been wearing makeup on my poorly days. But I still have a few beauty bits most most of them are tech/lifestyle favourites.

For beauty bits this month I have been loving three things. First off I was sent some of the Tanya Burr lip glosses to try ( full review coming soon) and one of the shades didn't suit me at all, but Champagne Toast is the perfect shimmery nude gloss. I like to wear this on casual makeup days (which is nearly everyday!). As I said earlier I have been quite under the weather recently and my skin has been really dull and lacking a bit of life. So I started using my Laura Geller Baked Impressions Blush in Mauve Mocha Latte. This stuff is beautiful. I have to admit it does look a little boring in the packaging, but blended out onto my cheeks it makes them look really healthy and fresh. It is a very warm pink blush with a brown under tone and sometimes I will just use this on my cheeks as I find it does kind of contour my face as well. My monthly favourites post wouldn't be complete without a nail polish; this months polish is the Essence Colour & Go in 84. This is the only one of these polishes that I own and it was mainly the colour that drew me to it. It is an orange based coral and looks gorgeous for S/S. The lasting wear of this polish isn't great. maximum about three days. But as I love the colour so much it doesn't really bother me as much. The great thing about this polish is the size of the brush, it is really wide and I can do my nails with basically one swipe!

So this month I have quite a few lifestyle favourites. Firstly is a magazine that I have discovered. I know Company magazines are really popular but it was only in February when I started reading them and thought I would just mention that I really like them. They are different to other magazines because they have paper pages instead of glossy pages which I really like. They are like the perfect teen magazine without being like the trashy gossip ones that come with plastic makeup (you know the ones I mean!). One of my best friends persuaded me that I needed to watch 90210 and I managed to catch it on E4 playing for series 1. So obviously being the good friend that I am, I watched it and I am now obsessed. Everyday I get to watch a new episode and I like watching it like this because I stops me for watching 10 episodes a day. We have all been there and done that and you will know that it is so bad because you don't get anything done that day.

Finally I just want to mention my iPhone. At the beginning of April I got my iPhone 5c in the pink shade and i think I might have fallen in love. I don't know how I have lived for 14 years without one of these bad boys. I mean honestly everything is so much easier and I just love it. If you have any app recommendations I would love to hear them!

What's In My Bag

Hey Peeps,

So I recently joined a group chat with a group of other bloggers and we were just generating ideas (as bloggers do!) when we came up with a really cool idea. Over the next 4 weeks we are going to let you have a closer look inside some of our most used and loved things. This week we are starting off with the ever so famous What's In My Bag. As it is now Spring I recently switched up my bag for a more spring appropriate bag. The one I am currently using is a Cath Kidston Box Bag. I love these bags, I have two of them in different prints and I mainly use them during the spring/summer months!

First off, whenever I leave the house I always bring my sunglasses with me. They are an absolute essential and over the years I have gathered quite a collection. At the moment I am using these ones from M&S, they are a really simple brown shade with an almost leopard print pattern; but nothing 'too-in-your-face'! What I really like is that they have quite a big frame and resemble the cat eye glasses which I really like but was too afraid to go for the really profound ones. I keep my glasses in this black pouch that came with them when I bought them! I also have a nail file (obviously!), hand cream, a body spray for a little spritz throughout the day and my headphones which I always have in my bag because I hate being someone without them. Then I have my purse, this was a present for my birthday a few years ago and is a Cath Kidston one. What I love is that the print is very similar to my bag and I have another bag which has the exact print as my purse. In case you don't know I love things to match!

Next is my little bag with some beauty items in. I have my buffing brush, laura geller face powder, benefit boing concealer, my S&G eyeliner in black, benefits they're real mascara, bourjois colour boost in fuchsia libre, a kleenex lip balm, burts bees balm and a selection of bobby pins and bobbles. The little bag I keep my beauty items in is also from Cath Kidston; can you see a theme occurring here!

Finally to keep me entertained I have this months issue of Company magazine and a new book I just started called City of Bones. I discovered Company a few months ago and since then I have loved reading it. You may have noticed me using the magazine in the background of my posts sometimes when photographing my nails or products. Last but not least is the item that will always, not matter wind or rain, shine or cloud, will be with me and that is my phone. I recently got a new phone, the iPhone 5c and I absolutely love it.

So there we have it my first ever what's in my bag! Next week, along with the other girls, I will be showing you what's in my makeup bag. Here are the other bloggers taking part:

Becca's Blogger of the Month | Katie

Hey Peeps,

This months blogger is Katie from Katie's World of Beauty. She has an absolutely gorgeous blog design and I love her bedding sheets that she uses in the background of all her photos. She recently hit 1000 followers and a nicer person couldn't have deserved it more than her! You should all go and follow her blog (after you've read her interview first!)

What inspired you to start blogging? It’s always been something I've wanted to start but I put it off for ages. Once I was starting to buy more and more products I decided to finally open my blog and write about them last summer!
How much has your blog changed and devolved since you first started? It’s changed in numerous ways. I used to write in a different style for starters, my images were just either one plain image or bad quality/odd angles. I also rambled a lot in them – didn't proof read them enough as to what I do now!
What is your all time favourite post you have ever written? Hmm well my most commented post was ‘How to get organised with blogging’ which was actually a company post I done on stationary! But, the favourite one I have written myself has to be either ‘Products that need more hype’ or ‘products bought down to packaging’ I liked how they were different to what I’d usually write about.
Where would you like to see you and your blog in 5 years time? Well I haven’t had my blog for a year yet and already I am amazed at some of the comments and followers I get! But hopefully I would like to build on it and maybe get some OOTD posts up and other things I am not used to doing see if that makes a difference on not just my blog but my confidence.
What is your number 1 top tip for blogging, for any bloggers seeking advice or for those bloggers starting out? Urmm 1 tip?  Don’t compare yourself to any other bloggers. Don’t think ‘oh I need to write like that’ write it your own way. If it sounds more like you, bloggers will more likely read your posts more and more!

Thank you so much Katie for taking part and being this months, blogger of the month!

Beauty Lab Overnight Repair Beauty Cream | Review

Hey Peeps,

I mainly use drugstore moisturisers as I find that they are pretty good for their reasonable price. But I was sent this Beauty Lab Overnight Cream (*) to try and I have to say I am really impressed by it. When you dip your fingers in the tub it feels really light but as you rub it into your skin I found it became really thick which I liked. This product is aimed more at mature skin but I will use this, not as a repairing cream, but a thick nourishing overnight cream.

The packaging is really classy and sophisticated and looks like it is really expensive. White packaging with a gold brim works well together and these colours will suit everybody. I find it really off putting when packaging of beauty products are only aimed at certain groups of people. For example leopard print on packaging makes me think of people in their teens. There is a heck of a lot of product in this tub and I can see it lasting me ages as you only need a tiny bit and you can fully moisturise your whole face. I put it to the test and used it three nights in a row. I loved how my skin felt after I applied it and I had no reaction to it which is good as I have quite sensitive skin. On the fourth night I didn't use this moisturiser and I found that my skin felt dehydrated the following morning and just a big mmuuuhhh.

You can buy this product from www.beautylab.co.uk and it is priced at £35, which is quite expensive but this is definitely a luxury product! I would like to thank SparklePR for sending me this product and I would also like to credit Harvey Nichols (http://www.harveynichols.com/) as you can buy BeautyLab products from there.

Nutella Cheesecake Recipe

For Easter Sunday I decided to make Nigella's nutella cheesecake! It was so easy to make and I can tell you after sampling many slices that it is absolutely delicious. When I did my 2014 Bucket List I said that i wanted to try and do 3 recipe posts this year, so here is my first one. I hope you like it and if you give this cheese cake a go do let me know and tweet me a picture so I can see.

Ingredients:
250 grams of digestive biscuits
75 grams of unsalted butter softened at room temperature
1 jar of nutella (400 grams) at room temperature
100 grams of chopped toasted hazelnuts
500 grams of cream cheese at room temperature
60 grams of icing sugar

The Method:
Break the digestives using a food processor or you could put the digestives in a seal-able bag and bash them with a wooden spoon or rolling pin until the digestives are fully broken down. Then add the butter, 15g of nutella and blitz in the food processor. Add 25g ( or three tablespoons) of the hazelnuts and continue to mix everything together until it starts to clump together like a damp sandy mixture.

Put this digestive mixture into a 23cm/9 inch round tin and press it into the bottom of the tin using your hands. Then place this into the fridge to chill

Beat the cream cheese and the icing sugar until smooth, add the rest of the nutella to the cream cheese mixture. Beat until smooth and combined. You may need to use a spatula so that all the mixture at the sides is fully mixed in.

Take the tin out of the fridge and add the nutella mixture onto the base, smoothing it out. I scattered the remaining hazelnuts on top, but you could add a dusting of icing sugar or chocolate flakes; what ever you wish. Place in the fridge for at least 4 hours but I would recommend leaving it over night in the fridge. In my opinion it is served best straight from the fridge!

Happy Easter!

Hey Peeps,

Just a quick post today to say a Happy Easter to you all. I love Easter Sunday because I always celebrate it with my family and I always consider it to be a family celebration. In the past we have had a huge Sunday dinner and then watched the Easter story on the TV, or a couple of years ago we had our dinner out at Jamie Oliver's restaurant. Today I am going with my family to watch Noah at the cinema and then I think we are going to have a nice Sunday dinner.

If you can, try and spend the day with your family and make the most of stuffing your face with lots and lots of delicious chocolaty goodies!

High Street Picks | April

Hey Peeps,

I don't know about you but in Spring and Summer I always find fashion so much more inspiring and its great that this month shops have been getting in all their S/S stock. In the high street stores this month, while doing a sneaky bit of online shopping when I should have been studying, I found some items that I really like and can see myself wearing.

Personally I love the navy daisy dress, it would be great for wearing during a warm spring day paired with a denim jacket and a white bag. The style of this dress resembles a t-shirt which I like because it makes it more appropriate. I don't know about you but sometimes when I wear a dress during the day I sometimes feel over dressed, but this dress seems like the perfect style. To me these camis seem more than your basic cami. They hold their flowing shape really nicely and I would pair them with pale skinny jeans and metal bar sandals. As for the nail polishes, what can I say. These are two beautiful shades. I am not sure if they are new shades or not; but these shades caught my eye while I was looking in Topshop so I am not sure really!

1st Blog Birthday!

Hey Peeps,

Today is a day of celebration here on my blog. On this day a whole year ago, I sat down in my bedroom in front of the computer and decided I would start a blog. That day I when I created MissBeccaBeauty I had no idea it would lead to such happiness. My blog is something I am very proud of. Every time I click the publish button a wave of pride washes over me. Every time I get a really sweet comment saying they like my pictures, or they think my blog is good I feel so good about my self and the blog I managed to create. Every time somebody new follows me it astonishes me that people, whom I have never met, like my blog enough to follow so they can read more.

Probably the thing I am most proud of is my self determination. When I started blogging I had no idea what GFC followers was, how to schedule posts, HTML was like a forgien language to me and the thought of having to design my blog with no experience in this kind of thing really scared me. But I spent hours and hours looking at tutorials and researching how to do everything and eventually I managed to work out how to design my blog. Although it was hard i was determined to design my own blog and I was determined to learn as much as I could. I by no means know everything now about blogging but I know more now than I did when I first started out! Also along the way I picked up some blogging lingo and got chatting to a lot of bloggers who gave me plenty of friendly advise. One of the best things i ever did was take part in twitter chats, everyone is so friendly and i often ask question and get peoples opinions on there as well. I have been really busy and keep forgetting or am really busy when the chats are on. But I am going to try more often to take part in the chats as I always learn so much in these chats.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my blog by following, reading my posts and leaving you thoughtful and kind comments. I still cant believe my blog is one today and I look forward to many more blog birthdays!! So many amazing things have happened to me this year and I have made so many great blogging friends. I cant wait to see what the coming year holds for me and my blog.

Long Weekend Beauty Kit

Hey Peeps,

As you will probably know I have been away on for a long weekend and I wanted to share with you the beauty products I brought with me. I am going to talk about three of my favourite products that I brought with me, particularly because they are great for travelling!

I really like the Urban Decay Naked pallette for travelling because it is the prefect neutral palette. Also I can create lots of different looks with these 6 shades from a really fresh eyed simple look to a more dramatic evening look with the darker shades. For travelling the packaging of this is ideal because is is fairly slim and compact, which is good as there are four of us in my family so that restricts my packing space. I often find when I am travelling it is my brushes that take up the most space and I tend to bring a lot of brushes, especially eyeshadow brushes. I have found that the Real Techniques shading brush is a great mulit-task brush which can be used for blending, applying colour and for adding definition. Finally my last great travel product is the Laura Geller balance and bronze duo. This is great as you have a really wearable bronzed and another powder that can be used as a setting powder, face powder or even a highlighter. I have also found that if I need to travel really lightly then this product is a life saver because you can use the powder as a base eyeshadow and then the bronzed blended into the crease!

So the are my top three essentials that I brought with me this weekend. What beauty products do you take with you when you go away for a few nights or have to pack very lightly?

Spring Nail Polishes 2014

Hey Peeps,

I am really liking doing these seasonal posts where i show you what polishes I like wearing in each season. So at the moment I am on holiday with my cousins in Norfolk but I have some posts scheduled and I am thinking of showing what makeup/beauty products I have taken with m . Let me know if you would like to see this.

Nails Inc. Sheraton Street in the bottle looks like a pale blue but on the nails it is a gorgeous pastel blue that has a hint of grey in it. It is not a childish baby blue, but more of a sophisticated blue with a hint of grey running through. I featured this polish in my last monthly favourites but I had to talk about it again because this to me is the ideal spring nail polish! This polish also looks really good on my toes and I like to wear a glitter on one of my nails as an accent nail sometimes which looks really pretty.

I bough TopShop Wizz Kid on a bit of a whim. I was looking for a pale pink and couldn't decide between getting this polish and a paler one but I obviously bought this one in the end. This is quite a bright neon pink and it is absolutely gorgeous. I do think this would look nice with a bit of a tan, but alas I have pale Irish skin so instead of tanning I just burn red like a tomato! Anyway back to the nail polish. I really like Topshop polishes and this one is no exception. The formula is great, it lasted about 4 day on me which I think is quite good and I really want to get some more Topshop nail polishes. Would you recommend any?

Nails Inc. Brunswick is the first nude polish that I actually really like. Normally when I am painting my nails I always reach for the colourful vibrant colours that normally suit my mood. But the other day I wore this and I am actually really surprised at how much I like it. It is a light brown nude with pink undertones running through and is actually a great colour for Spring

Natural Spring Makeup Look

Hey Peeps,

I was sorting out all my makeup the other day and though it would be fun to show you what makeup I will be wearing this spring along with one of my favourite spring nail polishes i will probably be wearing to death this season. In my mind spring makeup should be very natural, simple and dewy.

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation
I have talked about this foundation before and done a separate review on it as well. This foundation is really light coverage and is perfect for Spring when you want to wear a foundation but not a really heavy one like in winter. The finish of this foundation is very natural and the way I like to describe the finish is that you can still 'see' you skin but it looks likes flawless skin.
Boi-ing Benefit Concealer
Benefits concealers have a high reputation and I really like this one as it has a really high coverage but doesn't look cakey whatsoever. I tend to only really use this in spots or blemishes as I find it works best there. Sometimes I will use it under my eyes. If I do then I apply a tiny bit of product onto my ring finger and then pat gently.
Sleek Blush in Rose Gold
All over the beauty world this is a highly talked about blusher, in fact I think it might be the most talked about sleek blusher. In the winter I didn't really wear this as I found it was too much for the dark days of winter. Now that the sunshine is finally here I love wearing this blusher. It is the most beautiful shade and I feel radiant and glowing when I wear this. Also I would just like to add (off course I can add something its my blog, silly me!)
'Foxy' and 'Naked 2' from the Naked Basics Palette
Nearly everyday now I reach for my Naked Basics palette and love it very much. The shades I use most for a really natural look are foxy and Naked 2. These are both matte shades as on an everyday basis I prefer matte shades.
Benefit They're Real Mascara
This is about the only mascara that I swear by, I use this everyday without a doubt. Last year when the travel size was in the Elle magazine I bought about 6 magazines because I love this mascara so much. It gives me really long, full, pretty lashes and I don't get the same effect with any other mascara.
MUA Lipstick in the shade 16
I bought this lipstick a few months ago as i really wanted to try a peachy Orange colour but I didn't want to buy an expensive lipstick and then not like the colour. MUA lipsticks are only a pound or something ridiculous, but the pigmentation is great. However it doesn't last long which you would expect but I love the colour and may buy a more expensive lipstick in this shade. For Spring I think this colour is great and I can see myself wearing this colour a lot over the coming weeks.
Real Techniques Buffing Brush
I couldn't live without this brush. I use this to blend in my foundation until I am happy it is fully blended, i use blend in any concealer needed and I usually use this same brush for powder as I don't like fussing with lots of different brushes when I am in a rush.
Real Techniques Contour Brush
I know this is called the contour brush but I find it is the perfect size for my blush so I use it for that. There are no rules after all. I don't really have much else to say except it is the perfect blush brush.
Real Techniques Shadow Brush
This is my most recent Real techniques brush. I use this as a multi purpose brush as the brushes are quite short and dense. This makes it good for apply shadow but also bending it out into the crease.

So...? Kiss Me Review

Hey Peeps,

The So...? Kiss Me range is my favourite scent. Personally I prefer the perfume but for carrying in my bag I will use the spray as I know the bottle wont smash or leak. The scent reminds me of summer and there it is a little bit musky which I like because then it is not overpoweringly sweet. I find that the smell lasts all day which is amazing as not all affordable perfumes have the same lasting wear. The smell can be quite strong when you first apply it but then it dies away and then you can smell just the right amount of fragrance; not too much, but not too little.... the perfect amount! I would wear this on a regular basis as it is such an original scent and I love that is it not too strong but it is still noticeable enough for people to say "Oohh you smell really nice, what are you wearing?!"

The packaging, like always, is really girly and pretty. I love how they have a lipstick print on the spray and the same pattern on the spray is on the box the perfume came in. The lid is really practical and I am actually surprised I haven't lost the lid yet, because whenever a product has a lid on that I use regularly it always gets lost. Does anyone else have this problem?

I would recommend that if you are in teens or you like a floral, summery yet musky smell, then you should definitely try this perfume or the spray if you prefer. If I could sum up this perfume in two words I would say it was fun and feminine.

T&B Talks | Let Go Of What You Can't Change

Hey Peeps

Here is our second T&B Talks. Tara and I are going to talk about letting go of our past that we cannot change and learning how to have courage to do this.

Things happen in our life. Bad things happen to good people. That is just the way life goes. But we live in the present and we don’t have the power to change what happened in the past, no matter how much we wished that we had magical powers or a time machine to do so. – Becca

This quote means a lot to me. A lot of the things that I stress and worry about are things I cannot change. Last year, I would constantly do it. It almost destroyed me & sometimes I still do it but I think it was during Christmas that I decided to stop. As a result I've become happier. I can now see that I have to make myself happy, I have to have the power to do it. I'm not saying you have to stop thinking about it completely, because that's not possible straight away, but having the courage to let it go and not let it consume you is when you'll be happiest. - Tara

Although it seems hard the best thing we can do is let go. I know this is easier said than done, trust me. But at the end of the day the person we must look after most is our self and we can’t look after our self if we are living in the past and worrying about what happened or what could have been. The best way we can look after our self is to accept what happened, accept that it is in the past, accept that we cannot change it and to let go. It will take a heck of a lot of courage to this. But when you do it will be one of the happiest moments in your life. – Becca

It’s all about being able to love yourself and knowing that you deserve to be happy.  Anything that is not making you happy even if it hurts you to let go (for example a boyfriend) is not worth being in your life because you can't change someone or that situation. You have to learn to love yourself enough so that when someone enters your life that treats you negatively or when something that you don't like happens if your life, you can stand up for yourself and have the strength to let go. You can learn that it is okay to say no to anyone who is not willing to treat you with the love and respect you not only want, but also deserve. – Tara

If you have any suggestions for the next T&B Talks then please feel free to leave them in the comments below. I love reading what you have to say!

Barry M Gelly Passion Fruit | WOMN #2

Hey Peeps,

Usually in Spring I paint my nails pastels and pretty pale colours, bur today I felt quite happy and vibrant so I wanted a colour that matched how I was feeling. For a while now I have been searching for the perfect coral and I think I have found it! Passion fruit from the Barry M Gelly is the perfect coral shade for me. It has just the right amount of orange and red mixed together. I have a coral very similar to this but it is glittery and I really wanted a non glittery shade for everyday! With a tan I think this polish will look gorgeous on my toes with really pretty flip flops!

Hello April 2014

Hey Peeps,

Oh my goodness it is finally April! April is the best month of Spring, all the pretty flowers come out, they days are longer and brighter and it means that Easter is just around the corner! My mums favourite flowers are tulips and in Spring I love seeing Tulips as they remind me of her and her wedding day ( in her photos there were tulips in the background!). This month I am going on holiday in the Easter holidays with my cousins and I cant wait as I don't see them very often and I love spending as much time as possible with them. Also in the Easter Holidays I am really looking forward to a nice long rest; this half term has been really long (7 weeks) and the thought of being able to lie in every morning and spend the day blogging, chilling and in my PJs really excites me!

This month I thought I would mix it up a bit and I am going to try a recipe post and a few more fashion posts. I really want to stretch myself this month and try new things on my blog. If there is anything you would like to see then please feel free to leave suggestions in the comments. It can be hard coming up with new ideas all the time! On another blogging note, you may have noticed I have been posting on different days. At the moment I am experimenting with posting on different days at different times. Posting in the morning seems to be working well so I will stick to that but i am not to sure about the days. Recently I have been posting on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. I like posting on a Sunday but haven't finalised the other days. I would love to know what you think of these posting days or if you preferred when I posted on a Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Finally on the 17th of April last year I started MissBeccaBeauty so I will be doing something hopefully around that time to celebrate my blog!!
